Driver Killed After Crossing Median Causing Head-On Crash In Nashua

A Saturday crash on Amherst Street left one person dead and several injured after the driver of a Honda crashed into a Jeep Wrangler.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua police said Sunday that the driver of a Honda Civic was killed Saturday in an accident on Amherst Street after they crossed a median into oncoming traffic.

Nashua Fire Rescue, AMR Ambulance, and Nashua Police responded to a head-on collision in the vicinity of 426 Amherst St. Saturday. While units were responding, they were advised there was possible entrapment, one vehicle was on fire, and CPR was in progress on the occupants of one of the vehicles.

An additional ambulance was summoned to the scene, and a trauma alert was activated at Southern New Hampshire Medical for a man possibly in his 40s. The driver of the Honda, based on statements obtained by witnesses at the scene, along with corroborating physical evidence, was traveling west when it crossed over the median into oncoming traffic colliding with a Jeep Wrangler traveling east.

AMR and Nashua Fire Rescue personnel at the scene determined that the operator of the Honda Civic had died due to the injuries sustained in the accident.

A passenger in the Honda Civic, along with all of the occupants of the Jeep Wrangler, were taken to local hospitals for treatment for their injuries, according to Nashua police.

Police did not release any names or ages of the people involved in the accident.

The eastbound lane on Amherst Street in the area of the accident was closed for several hours as Detectives, along with the Nashua Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit, investigated.

Nashua Police said no cause of the accident had been determined.
