Eight People Displaced After Fire Consumes 2-Story Nashua Duplex
Residents escaped via a second-floor window on Carver Street on Saturday; one firefighter was injured and the building was heavily damaged.
NASHUA, NH — Nashua firefighters arrived to a heavy fire Saturday morning at a duplex on Carver Street.
Several calls came into Nashua Fire dispatch for a reported building fire at 4 Carver St. The first engine arrived at the scene three minutes after being dispatched and confirmed heavy fire coming from a 2-story duplex at about 4:30 a.m.
Crews were met by the occupants, who reported everyone had exited the building. Two occupants had escaped from a second-floor window in the rear onto a single-story addition roof and were assisted to the ground with a ladder before the arrival of firefighters. NFR Ladder 1 arrived and completed initial searches of the structure to confirm all occupants were accounted for.

Firefighters used multiple hose lines to extinguish the fire, which consumed both floors in the unit where the fire appears to have started and extended into the attic. After about 90 minutes, the fire was brought under control.
Crews and apparatus from several surrounding mutual aid communities responded to cover Nashua fire stations.

Deputy Chief Mark Wholey said the right side of the structure sustained significant fire and smoke damage. Both sides of the structure will be uninhabitable and eight occupants will be displaced.
One firefighter suffered an ankle injury while fighting the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nashua Fire Marshal’s Office.
