Father, Son to be Inducted into Sports Legends Hall of Fame

For the first time in the history of the Holman Stadium Sports Legends Hall of Fame, a father and son will be recognized during Nashua’s July 4 celebration. 

The late Joe Andruskevich will be inducted along with his son, Greg Andruskevich, as part of the event, which was picked up by the Nashua Lions in 2010 after the Hall of Fame was started by the American Defenders. 

Joe Andruskevich was a 1938 graduate of Nashua High and was on the first football and baseball teams to play at historic Holman in 1936, two years after it opened. Greg was former sports editor of the Nashua Telegraph before moving to the New Hampshire Union Leader as veterans page editor, and  still serves as a volleyball and lacrosse official and chairman of the Mine Falls Park advisory commission. 

 “With Holman celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and the Nashua Lions celebrating our 90th anniversary, we felt having someone who was there at the start of this history making facility was important,” club president Elaine Lecius said. “Both Greg and his father fit that mold. Joe began the glorious years of Nashua High football and baseball played here, while Greg captured that history through the pages of the Telegraph.”
