Get Inside Author Julia Glass' Head at One City, One Book Soirée

Even if you haven't read the book, you won't want to miss this event.

Julia Glass is an award winning New England-born author who didn't find her literary voice – or at least that voice was not heard – until her first novel, "Three Junes" came out of nowhere in 2002. She  was 46 at the time, winning her the 2002 National Book Award for Fiction.
Yes, Glass fully embraces her late-bloomer status.

On Friday, Glass will make an appearance in Nashua for the Nashua Public Library's annual "One City One Book" event. You can come out, meet Glass, hear her read from her latest novel, "The Widower's Tale," and ask her anything you'd like.

That is the intimate nature of the annual Nashua Reads program, which encourages library patrons to come together for a community book talk with a renowned author.

Glass, 57, was born in Boston and is a 1978 Yale grad. Although her first love was painting, Glass freelanced as a copy editor, eventually parlaying years of copyediting into a successful career as a published author. Her other novels are "The Whole World Over," and "I See You Everywhere."

This evening of conversation and community is made possible by Friends of the Library and the Ella Anderson Trust. Toadstool Books will bring copies of Glass' books for sale and signing. Before the presentation, a private wine and cheese reception with the author will be held in the library's theater.

Attendees should buy either the $25 ticket, which includes the private wine and cheese reception, or the $7 ticket, but not both, since the $25 ticket includes the $7 fee for the public presentation. Tickets will be $10 at the door.

Ticket Information: All seats are General Admission. Tickets may be picked up starting 1/2 hour prior to the performance. Click here to purchase online (but pay a small online ticketing fee.) Tickets can also be purchased at the library, 2 Court St., Nashua.
