According to Hudson Police Sgt. Mike Gosselin, a "shelter in place" order differs from a lock down, as it basically locks down the exterior of the school.  No one is allowed to enter or exit the building and the school continues through its normal routine.  This is used as a precautionary method in the event there is some sort of police activity in the area of the school.

At 2 p.m., contact was made via telephone with the male resident of 3 Burns Hill Road, apartment Apt. 46. Subsequently, the male resident and two female subjects exited the apartment building without incident, and identified as the subjects involved in the verbal altercation.
