Hersh Hailed for Job Well Done

Retiring Director of Community Development Kathy Hersh was honored for her years of service to the city.

Kathy Hersh took her official final bow during Tuesday's Board of Aldermen meeting, with the passage of an ordinance in her honor.

Also in her honor, a section of the city's Riverwalk will now be known as the Kathy Hersh Riverwalk.

"I want to thank her for her dedication to the city, her passion for the things that are important, and to the spark she brings to a good discussion and debate, knowing her heart has always been in the right place. She has always been a joy to work with," said Mayor Donnalee Lozeau.

One informal addition to the Resolution came from Alderman David Deane, who noted that Hersh had led the charge in building the city's Senior Activity Center.

"Kathy was very passionate about that project, and she wasn't afraid to bring anything to the table, no matter what it was," Deane said.

Hersh said she appreciated all the hard work the Board of Aldermen put in to try and make the city a better place for all.

"More than anything, I would encourage the people of Nashua to participate, to run for seats on the Board of Alderman – everyone has the opportunity and responsibility to be part of their community's future. I've learned so much and met so many people, opportunities that wouldn't have been available if I hadn't been willing to serve initially on the Conservation Commission," Hersh said. "I'll be watching you on TV."
