Grant DeGiacomo, 26, was arrested on Thursday on a second-degree murder charge, accused of killing his mother, Christine DeGiacomo, 57.

HUDSON, NH — A man from Hudson has been charged with murder, accused of killing his mother on Wednesday.

Grant DeGiacomo, 26, was arrested on Thursday on a single felony second-degree murder charge. According to Michael Garrity, the Attorney General's Office spokesperson, he was accused of killing his mother, Christine DeGiacomo, 57, inside her townhouse.

Hudson Fire was dispatched to Shoal Creek Road Wednesday for a victim of an assault around 9:45 p.m., according to dispatch. Fire and EMS were asked to stage away from the scene and await for police to secure the scene. A Londonderry ambulance was also requested to respond to assist due to Hudson being on multiple unrelated calls at the same time.

After fire and EMS were cleared to enter the scene, they immediately requested to check on the availability of a medical helicopter. A landing zone was set up at the Alvirne High School and Boston Med-Flight landed at the school. Radio traffic indicated that a person had a severe head wound, possibly from an assault.

Londonderry EMS began transport to the landing zone when they advised the patient was in cardiac arrest and they diverted to Southern New Hampshire Medical.

Thursday morning, a large area surrounding 35 Shoal Creek Road was surrounded by yellow crime scene tape. Hudson police prevented people from entering the closed-off area while the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit processed the scene for evidence.

Garrity said officers discovered Christine DeGiacomo with a traumatic injury. She was transported for emergency medical treatment but later died at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.

Grant DeGiacomo is charged with recklessly causing the death of Christine DeGiacomo under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life by repeatedly striking her head, according to authorities.

An autopsy will be scheduled and conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

He was arrested in January 2020 for felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon. At the time of the incident, he was arrested after police responded to the same Shoal Creek Road townhouse for a disturbance involving a firearm.

In an affidavit for the reckless, it indicated that Grant DeGiacomo was inside the residence when his sister heard a gun being fired. When she made contact with him he was sitting in a chair and appeared intoxicated.

His sister convinced him to give her the gun, and the two occupants in the house at the time exited. Grant DeGiacomo remained in the house until police surrounded the house and ordered him out. DeGiacomo who was described as 6 foot, 3 inches tall, and around 315 pounds was taken into custody by Hudson Police.

After police entered the residence they located evidence that the gun had been fired into the wall of the residence and became lodged in the wall of the adjacent unit. No occupants were injured in either residence.

In July 2020, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to one year in the House of Corrections, with all time suspended for two years. One of the conditions was no contact with victim “C.T.” and the residence during the suspended sentence.

In April 2021, the sentence was amended in Hillsborough Superior Court–Southern District to allow Grant DeGiacomo to visit or reside at the residence at 35 Shoal Creek Road. Sentencing paperwork indicated it was the residence of Christine Degiacomo.

DeGiacomo is scheduled for arraignment on Friday at the Hillsborough Superior Court–Southern District, as determined by the Court.
