Interim Administrators Selected for Nashua High Schools

Marianne Busteed and Philip DeRosa will return in new roles this school year.

On Aug. 22 the Nashua Board of Education named Marianne Busteed to be the interim principal at NHS North and Philip DeRosa to be the interim assistant principal at NHS South, replacing Busteed, for the 2013-2014 school year.

Busteed's appointment is effective immediately and DeRosa's appointment is effective as of August 26, 2013.   Busteed replaces David Ryan, who resigned last month as North principal to accept the position of assistant superintendent of the Manchester School District.

Busteed has been a longtime assistant principal at NHS South, and brings a experience as a public school administrator and as a human resource specialist in the private sector to the principalship. She chaired the South Safety and Attendance Committees, and managed the Freshmen Transition Program, helping to welcome South's newest students.

Busteed earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Northeastern University, Boston, a Master of Education in secondary education from Fitchburg State University, Fitchburg, Mass., and a Certification in Advanced Graduate Studies in educational administration from Rivier University.

DeRosa has been a mathematics teacher at South since 2007 and an adjunct professor in mathematics at Manchester Community College, Manchester.  Most recently, he led Kick Start, the District's summer program for rising freshmen, which immerses students in many of the hands-on, technical programs offered at the high school and introduces them to high school academic expectations.  He also was a member of South's Data Team that was responsible for re-shaping the freshmen transition program.

DeRosa earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University, Boston, a Master of Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, and a New Hampshire Principal Certification from New England College, Henniker, where he is currently enrolled in the Certificate for Advanced Graduate Studies for school leadership program.
