Lorinda Nye, Nashua Native, Longtime Educator at Fairgrounds

Lorinda (Bilbow) Nye, of Antrim and formerly of Nashua, passed away peacefully at Concord Hospice on September 25, 2013, concluding a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Lorinda was born in Nashua on July 29, 1948, a daughter of the Herbert and Lillian (Girouard) Bilbow. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant sister, Leslie. She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Jerry Nye of Antrim; her sister Lucinda “Cindy” Bilbow of New Hampton. She is also survived by her step-mother, Marjorie Crosby Bilbow of Concord; a special Uncle and Aunt, Frank and Fran Irvine and family all of Concord, and her step-sisters Susan Greenleaf and family of Nashua and Sandi Beaulieu and family of Manchester.

She graduated from Mount St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1966 and Rivier College in Nashua, Class of 1970. She dedicated her career to teaching Family and Consumer Science at Fairground Jr. High School in Nashua for 35 years. During her career, she served as advisor for Future Homemakers of American, leading student trips to competitions across the United States. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a sorority organization of women educators dedicated to educational excellence, altruism and world understanding.

 In 2005, Lorinda and her husband retired to their home on Franklin Pierce Lake in Antrim. She was an active member of the Ladies Benevolent Society and Prayer Shawl Group of the Smith Congregational Church. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church of Hillsborough.

SERVICES: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Parish, 38 Church St., Hillsboro, NH on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Memorial visiting hours will be held at the David Funeral Home, One Lock St., Nashua on Saturday evening from 5-8 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. Interment prayers and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial donation to the VNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant St., Concord, NH 03301.
