Man Accused Of Painting Swastika In Nashua: Police

Nashua police said George Carty, of Lowell, Massachusetts, spray-painted a swastika and "National Socialist Legion" on city property.

NASHUA, NH — A Massachusetts man was arrested this week after police said he spray-painted a swastika and "National Socialist Legion" on Nashua city property over the summer. George Carty, 20, of Lowell, was charged with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. He was released on bond.

Police Capt. Jonathan Lehto said the graffiti was discovered June 13. The location was not disclosed. The National Socialist Legion describes itself as a "Revolutionary National Socialist organization dedicated to protecting the White European Race." The group's website is inaccessible and its YouTube account was terminated for "hate speech."

Carty was identified as the individual responsible for the graffiti and a warrant was issued, according to Lehto. Carty was arrested Tuesday.
