NASHUA, NH — A man from Massachusetts is facing nine sexual assault and assault charges after incidents earlier this year in Nashua.

In early September, a Nashua police officer was sent to an apartment building near Lock Street to take an assault report from two women involving their daughters, who were both 15.

One woman reported her daughter had been raped by a man named “Daniel Neguin” from Brockton, Massachusetts, in Atherton Park in Nashua in July. The girl also confirmed the activity to the officer, stating she “initially believed” the man was 18, when in fact he was 26, according to an affidavit. The girl provided the officer with a phone number and a picture taken during a FaceTime video chat, the report said.

The officer spoke with the second girl, who reported she had been assaulted by the man on Aug. 20. The girl said she did not have intercourse with the man, but he “put his hands on her and attempted to sexually assault her,” the report said.

The officer conducted a query on the phone number and found it was owned by Daniel Pereira-Viana, 26, of Stoughton, MA. An officer also compared the photo from FaceTime with a Massachusetts RMV photo and positively identified him as the suspect, the report said.

A detective was assigned to further the investigation.

The detective spoke with one of the girls on Sept. 15. She accused Pereira-Viana of picking them up in a truck around 1 a.m. He reportedly drove the girls to the park and began touching and attempting to kiss the girl, but she resisted and threw herself to the ground to prevent him from attacking her, the detective wrote. Pereira-Viana then “instructed” the second girl to come to him since the first girl “would not do anything sexual with him.”

“Daniel then took (the second girl) into the car,” the detective wrote.

The first girl “became concerned” since the second girl and Pereira-Viana “remained in the car for an extended period of time,” the report said. She opened the car door and pulled Pereira-Viana off the other girl, telling him to put his clothes back on, the affidavit stated. The second girl, she said, “appeared semi-conscious and out of it.”

The first girl was able to get the second girl out of the truck and walk her home. She also provided the detective with video of the truck, which turned out to be the same make, model, and color as a pickup truck registered in Massachusetts to Pereira-Viana, the report said.

The reporting detective and another detective interviewed the second girl, and she reported a nearly identical story to the first girl.

She also said she resisted Pereira-Viana, but later, he “provided her with an alcoholic beverage, which she consumed,” and “observed a pill-like substance in the drink.” She felt dizzy and sleepy shortly after consuming the drink, the report said. The girl told detectives she attempted to fight off Pereira-Viana, including punching and kicking him, telling him to stop, but he did not, the affidavit said. Around the same time, the second girl began banging on the windows of the truck, attempting to get her out, and was eventually able to open the door and free the girl from the attack, the detective wrote.

The reporting detective asked the girl how old she thought Pereira-Viana was and she said a teenager since a relative had told her he was, the report said. The relative also told him to leave the girls alone because they were too young for him, the detective wrote.

The next day, the second girl said Pereira-Viana sent $50 to her mother via Zelle and instructed her to purchase a Plan B pill to prevent her from getting pregnant, the affidavit said. The girl then went to a pharmacy and bought the Plan B pill and took it, the report said.

“(The girl) stated that Daniel had texted her that she needed to take the pill and that if she was pregnant, he wanted nothing to do with the baby,” the detective wrote.

The girl also provided screenshots of their text messages, the detective said.

Later that day, the detective met with one of the mothers and said Pereira-Viana was “a family friend” who lived on Snell Place in Brockton, MA, the report stated. She said she had never been to his residence. The mother also provided a screenshot of the $50 Zelle transaction from July 14.

Other evidence allowed the detective to trace the incident to July 13, according to the report.

On Sept. 17, another detective, while speaking with Brockton police, learned Pereira-Viana was involved in a crash in January 2023. Police in Brockton confirmed the Snell Place address was active.

During the investigation, police accused Pereira-Viana of grabbing the first girl’s buttocks and kissing her on May 11, kissing the first girl and grabbing and raping the second girl on July 13, and fondling and raping the second girl on Aug. 20, according to the affidavit.

A warrant was issued against Pereira-Viana, and he was charged with two counts of simple assault, one felony count of felonious sexual assault-penetration-attempt-victim 13 to 15, one felony count of aggravated felonious sexual assault, and five counts of sexual assault. He was held on preventative detention. Pereira-Viana was provided with an attorney and a Portuguese interpreter and arraigned via video on Wednesday.
