Mayor, Volunteers Help Build Nashua Home

Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity and Lowe's teamed up May 3 as part of National Women Build Week.

Nashua Mayor Donnalee Lozeau joined more than 20 women May 3 to volunteer at a Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity construction site as part of National Women Build Week.

The volunteers worked to break ground on a Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity duplex project on Chestnut Street.

The Women Build Week, partnering with Lowe's, challenges women to devote at least one day to help build affordable housing in their communities.

"We are very excited to have our 2014 home groundbreaking as our very first Women Build event," Executive Director Leah Shuldiner said in a press release. "Women have the capability and determination necessary to build Habitat for Humanity houses, addressing the problem of substandard housing in a concrete way so that families have safe, decent and affordable homes. I hope this event will encourage more women to get involved with Habitat."
