Nancy's Diner Opens for Business Aug. 1

After several delays, the diner will be open for business Thursday Aug. 1.

Finally, the inspections are completed, the appliances are in place, the cooks are cooking, the wait staff is waiting – all that's needed are some customers, and that's exactly what owners Nancy and Lenny Abreu have been waiting for.

Doors open at 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 1.

Lenny Abreu encourages everyone to come hungry.

"We're working on training with staff right up to the deadline, and we're making our sauces and taking care of the small stuff – crossing all our t's and dotting all our i's, making sure everything's ready for our guests," Abreu said.

"Nancy and I have been very anxious  to open the diner - our opening has been pushed off by unforeseen circumstances, but that was out of our control. We're ready, and we're proud of everything we've done, and I'm especially proud of everything my wife has done; she's the cornerstone of the whole diner," Abreu said.

Thursday will be a soft opening, to make sure everything is running smoothly, Abreu said.
