Nancy's Diner Update: Final Inspections This Week

So close to opening you can almost smell the home fries (and baked beans and coffee and fried bologna sandwiches.)

We got a first look at Nancy's Diner take-out menu on Tuesday, which we're sharing here with you so you can get pumped up, too.

Owners Lenny and Nancy Abreu are nearing the construction finish line, and are hopeful that by next week, the doors will officially open to customers interested in "good food for a good price."

The '50s-themed diner, located at 25 Canal St., will offer breakfast and lunch seven days a week, 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"We met with the Historical Society last week and our permanent sign was approved, so that will hopefully go up Friday. The Board of Health is coming back tomorrow to check the dishwasher, so by the weekend we should be ready for training and cooking and perfecting our menu items," Lenny Abreu said. "Nancy's working on a kids' menu, and we're still taking applications – hopefully we'll be busy enough that we'll need to hire a few more people."
