Nashua Police Sgt. John Cinelli, the public information officer for the department, verified two people were transported from the scene with gunshot wounds and other injuries. The victims are both expected to survive and are being interviewed by detectives.
A person working inside Denny’s during the incident said that a disagreement began inside, and the people were removed from the restaurant. The shooting occurred in the parking lot and the witness said that the people involved in the incident were adults, the witness estimated the victims were in their 30s.
Police worked for several hours Sunday morning gathering evidence, documenting the scene and a Nashua officer with his K-9 searched several areas of the parking lot.
The K-9 team was used to search the passenger compartment, trunk, and under the hood of the Acura. Police could be seen picking up and examining a firearm near the vehicles and then taking photographs of the firearm.
The Acura had a New Hampshire plate on the front and the Jeep had a Vermont plate on the back of the vehicle. It is unknown at this time if the vehicles are directly connected to the victims or the shooting. Bloody clothes, a wallet, and a cell phone were gathered and put into evidence bags near the sidewalk of the front entrance of the restaurant.
Nashua Fire was summoned to the scene after the crime scene processing was completed and they washed down the area next to the sidewalk and a section in the center of the parking lot.
The restaurant closed immediately after the shooting and remained closed until late morning, when it reopened after the crime scene was cleared.
Cinelli told Patch, “At this time, it is an active investigation, this appears to be an isolated incident between two groups; we believe there is no further danger to the public."
There will not be any additional information released at this time and there have been no arrests.
Nashua Patch will publish updated information as it becomes available.
