The Workforce Solutions Center at Nashua Community College is a resource for students and employers looking for the right credentials and training.

“We’re here to help the workforce,” said Kim Eckenrode, Career and Technical Education Pathways Director. “We’re here for companies who want to have some training for their employees or to create a pathway for their employees to get degrees and improve retention. We’re also here for people who want to pivot to a new career. And like with our Microelectronics Boot Camp, which was launched in partnership with BAE Systems to address a labor gap; we’re here to develop partnerships with local businesses.”

Kim, along with Corporate, Community & Continuing Education Coordinator Jon Mason, and CTE Continuing Education Coordinator Christina Gath comprise the Workforce Solutions team at NCC.

Christina said her passion is helping adult learners achieve their goals, “Going back to school can be overwhelming. I can help students navigate the process from the first inquiry about our academic options, all the way to graduation.”

Jon has worked for Nashua Community College for 14 years. He coordinates a range of skills training such as Microelectronics, Lean Manufacturing, and Inspection. “NCC Training is very adaptable. We have a great crew of individuals who are well versed in a number or different types of training and techniques. We can work in house, remote or here on campus,” he said. Training programs can be eligible for WIOA and Job Training Fund support.

Credit for Prior Learning

A big part of adult education is tying together all the education and experience students have collected over the years, and using it toward a certificate or degree. This includes old college transcripts, military experience and educational credits, and your work experience.

Credit for Prior Learning can move students closer to completing their credential at NCC, saving them time and money, said Christina, “Come to the Workforce Solution Center and talk to me about your goals, so I can help you make a plan for success.”

Business Partnerships

Jon Mason facilitated the development of the highly successful Microelectronics Boot Camp in partnership with BAE Systems in 2016. With a 98 percent job placement rate, graduates go on to fulfill high demand positions at BAE, as well as industry partners such as Mercury Systems, Lockheed Martin, and API Tech. The 10-week, full-time Microelectronics Boot Camp is enrolling now for a new class starting April 11.

Other recent career training includes professional development tracks for students studying CNC Milling, CNC Turning, Swiss Style Screw Machine, and an Advanced Mastercam class.

The Workforce Solutions team can create customized business training where instructors deliver programming. For instance, NCC instructors have recently taught Lean Manufacturing and English as a Second Language at employer sites.

“If you have a company that wants to build a program, like Microelectronics to create a pipeline of future workers; whatever that need is, they can partner with us to fulfill that need and to either upskill current employees or train new ones,” said Kim.

Online Career Training

The Workforce Solutions Center has established career training available 100 percent online. This includes:
