NH Police: Driver Late To July 4 Bash Hit 109 MPH

New Hampshire State Police said Yefri Garcia-Medina was clocked at 109 mph driving a BMW on Interstate 93.

SALEM, NH — A Nashua man who said he was late for a July 4 party was clocked at 109 mph on Interstate 93 Wednesday and arrested, police said. Garcia-Medina told New Hampshire State Police troopers he was "late going to a lake for a (Fourth) of July celebration," authorities said. A police aircraft clocked Garcia-Medina at about 6:55 a.m. going 109 mph on the northbound side of the highway. The speed limit in that area is 65 mph.

Garcia-Medina is due in Salem District Court August 23 to answer to the charge.

Police said Garcia-Medina was one of 110 drivers who were issued tickets and warnings during the aerial patrol.

"The NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other
aggressive driving behaviors," New Hampshire State Police said in a statement. "Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the State Police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire’s roadways safe for all residents and visitors."

Also on Wednesday, police said a driver was clocked at 107 mph driving on I-93 in Windham.
