NH Police Standoff: Man Surrenders Peacefully

A New Hampshire SWAT team responded to Pelham after Justin Levasseur threatened his parents with a gun, police said.

PELHAM, NH — An hours-long police standoff in Pelham Monday night ended peacefully, according to police. Justin Levasseur (pictured), 37, of Pelham, was arrested after police said he threatened his parents with a gun at their Currier Road home then refused to leave when they fled and officers arrived.

The incident started at about 5 p.m. Levasseur's mother was injured during the ordeal and hospitalized, police said.

"(The) Pelham Police Department received a phone call from a resident on Currier Road advising that his son was threatening to shoot him with a gun," Pelham police said in a statement. "The caller was upset and stated that he heard a gun go off as he ran from the house."

Police continued, "Responding officers set up a perimeter around the house and began evacuating the residents from the homes immediately beside the house in question ... They attempted to make contact with Levasseur and were unsuccessful for hours."

Then at about 9 p.m., Levasseur surrendered, police said. He was charged with assault, criminal threatening, reckless conduct and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was held pending an arraignment Tuesday in Hillsborough County Superior Court.
