No $100K Payment for Dam Work

The Budget Review Committee recommended passage.

The Nashua Board of Aldermen on May 13 did not approve a proposed $100,000 payment to Cotton Mill Square LLC for work done on the right abutment to the Jackson Mills Dam.

The Budget Review Committee had recommended passage.

While some may say the city was not legally required to make the payment as part of the dam project, Mayor Donnalee Lozeau says the payment made sense given that the city owns that abutment.

"It's just unfortunate," she said in an interview. "The work was done in good faith."

The right abutment work was identified last year after the dam improvement project began. The work was completed by the end of 2013, with the exception of a "few punch list items," according to city documents.
