Volunteers met at the Nashua National Guard Armory on Feb. 13 to collect donated supplies and pack and ship care packages to members of the U.S. Armed Services.
Submitted by MooreMart:
On February 13th through the 15th MooreMart volunteers met at the Nashua
National Guard Armory to collect donated supplies and pack and ship care
packages to members of the United States Armed Services serving in the
Middle East. On February 15th MooreMart volunteers packed and shipped 632
care packages at the Nashua Armory.
The care packages were shipped to members of the Armed Services from New
Hampshire serving in the Middle East, to members of the armed services from
throughout the United States serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, to veterans in
transition staying at Liberty House in Manchester as well as the Veterans
Hospital in Manchester.
MooreMart also shipped care packages to the Chaplains Office to be
distributed to an orphanage and Community Medical Clinic in Kabul
Afghanistan along with supplies to the MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation
Office) in Iraq and Afghanistan to be distributed to any serviceman or woman
who arrived in the Middle East without support from home.
February's packing event brings the total number of care packages shipped by
MooreMart to 61,665 and Humanitarian Aid to Schools and Orphanages in Iraq
and Afghanistan to 8 tons.
MooreMart volunteers were joined by Senator Jeanne Shaheen as well as
members of the Nashua High School Honor Society, the Red Cross, Boy Scout
Troop 613, UniFirst, Comcast, Walgreens, Bank of America, St. Anselm's
College, VFW, DAV, American Legion as well as The Disney Store.
Senator Shaheen has been a MooreMart volunteer since 2006 and has been
instrumental in the expansion of MooreMart's ability to support members of
the armed services serving in the Middle East as well as in MooreMart's
outreach to families displaced by the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
MooreMart's next packing event will be hosted by the New Hampshire National
Guard at the National Guard Armory in Nashua on May 29th through the 31st.
