Tractor-Trailer Rollover Snarls Traffic In Nashua On Everett Turnpike

A pickup truck and tractor-trailer collided near Exit 2, causing lanes to be shut down Monday; fluids spilled, creating a hazmat situation.

NASHUA, NH — New Hampshire State Police were on the scene immediately after two vehicles collided on the northbound side of the Everett Turnpike Monday.

A pickup truck and tractor-trailer collided near Exit 2. The tractor-trailer veered to the left, struck the guardrail, and rolled over. The pickup truck had damage on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Nashua Fire Rescue and AMR ambulance responded to the scene at about 9:15 a.m. upon their arrival, they began to evaluate the vehicles' drivers. The NFR special hazards unit was requested due to several fluids leaking from the rolled-over truck. The drivers of both vehicles refused medical transport from the scene.

State police closed some of the travel lanes on both sides of the turnpike, and NH DOT workers arrived at the scene to assist with diverting traffic around the scene and emergency workers.

Nashua Fire requested the assistance of the NH Department of Environmental Services at the scene due to the mitigation needed for the leaking fluids.

D&R Towing arrived with a flatbed truck and removed the pickup from the scene. Kent’s Towing responded with several pieces of apparatus, including a hazard mitigation truck.

The roadway was closed for several hours and caused a significant backup of traffic.
