Two People Rescued From Nashua River After Woman Jumps From Bridge
A bystander saw a woman jump from the Main Street Bridge and worked to save her Saturday. Nashua Fire Rescue rescued both from the river.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire Rescue, police, and AMR responded to a call for a woman who jumped from the Main Street bridge into the Nashua River Saturday.
Prior to the arrival of Nashua Fire Rescue and Nashua Police Department at 2:15 p.m., a Good Samaritan entered the river to assist the woman who had jumped from the bridge. They were able to secure the subject in the middle of the river and helped them back to a small ledge along the edge of the Nashua Telegraph building.
Upon the arrival of Nashua Fire Rescue, a Nashua police officer threw a flotation ring at the subjects as they worked to the water’s edge. Nashua Fire Rescue made verbal contact with the two subjects, who appeared fatigued, and obviously needed assistance out of the water.

NFR Ladder Co. 1 lowered a ground ladder from an elevated edge about 30 feet east of where the two subjects were. Two firefighters wearing water rescue suits entered the water and gained access to the two subjects. Both subjects were secured to floatation devices and ropes while rescuers conducted an initial medical evaluation in the water.
Nashua Fire launched two boats, Marine 1 and Marine 2 from the boat access ramp at the rear of Millyard Technology Park and traveled east on the Nashua River to the rescue site.

Both people in the water were loaded into Nashua Fire Rescue boats and returned to the boat ramp for medical assistance from AMR Ambulance.
Boston Med-Flight was called to the scene but was canceled as weather conditions in the area changed and ground transport to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center to provide the most timely medical care.
The condition of the two people removed from the water is unknown at this time, however, it is believed they had non-life-threatening injuries.
