Unknown Aged Man's Body Pulled From Merrimack River In Nashua

NH Marine Patrol assisted police, who say there are no obvious signs of foul play; the man will be identified by the state medical examiner.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire Rescue, police, and AMR Ambulance responded to a report of a body in the Merrimack River on Friday.

The call came in just at 11:20 a.m., with the caller reporting he had found a body in the river near Eastbrook Drive and Farmington Road. Responders determined the best access was from the area of the railroad tracks behind the Nashua Country Club.

The body was in the water and near the shoreline in some branches on the west side of the river. Nashua firefighters launched boats and prepared divers to enter the water.

Upon arrival, it was determined the man was deceased and was face down in the water.

The Nashua Police Dive Team, New Hampshire Marine Patrol, and Detectives worked throughout the afternoon to document the scene and remove the body of a man and brought it to shore where a member of the Office of the New Hampshire Medical Examiner was on the scene.

The body was transported to Concord for an autopsy which will be performed to determine the identity, cause of death, and manner of death.

Nashua Police Public Information Officer Sgt John Cinelli said, “There were no obvious signs of foul play, and efforts to identify the body will be coordinated with the New Hampshire Medical Examiners’ Office.”

All responders cleared the scene late Friday afternoon.
