Utility Pole Broken Into Pieces On Busy Lowell Street In Nashua

Witnesses say a tractor-trailer sheered off a pole at the corner of Lowell and Orange streets and fled the area; crews are making repairs.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire Rescue responded to a report of an accident at Lowell and Orange streets on Wednesday, and reports of a broken utility pole.

Firefighters arrived at the intersection at about 8 a.m. and found a utility pole sheered off at the bottom with wires and a transformer hanging from the top of the broken pole. Eversource and other utility companies arrived on the scene to fix the pole. They are expected to spend several hours replacing it. The intersection will be closed throughout the day as crews work in the area.

There are no power outages in the area. However, some power may need to be shut off while crews work to move the wires.

A broadcast over the scanner for several area towns to be on the lookout for a large white tractor-trailer with the words “Transam” on the side of it and the numbers 25761 written on the trailer. The BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) call was for a hit and run where a pole was broken in Nashua and the truck possibly has damage to the driver's side.
