Falling on the last Monday of May each year, Memorial Day honors those who lost their lives while serving in the military. It's a federal holiday that many people get off from work, resulting in a three-day weekend.
This year, Memorial Day falls on May 27, and for many, this holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. We've rounded up some things to do Memorial Day Weekend in and around Nashua. Please note: We recommend calling ahead to confirm the hours and access before you head out the door.
Parents Night Out Nerf Wars
When: Friday, May 24 - 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
Where: Merrimack Parks and Recreation, 116 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054
What: Give the kids (and yourself) a great night out with a staff-supervised evening of Nerf battles and pizza dinner. Kids aged 7-14 are invited to partake, with tickets running $25 per person ($20 for additional children in a family). All participants are asked to bring their own equipment and protective gear.

Nashua Sculpture Symposium: Visit The Sculptors
When: Friday, May 24, Saturday, May 25 and Monday, May 27 - 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Where: The Picker Artists’ Studios, 3 Pine St., Nashua, NH 03060
What: The Nashua International Sculpture Symposium will be in town from Thursday, May 9 - Saturday, Jun. 1, with stunning sculptures lining the 2.5-mile Downtown loop. In addition to exploring the public art, community members are invited to visit the sculptors in-studio on Mondays through Saturdays from May 13 through May 30.
Alex Cohen Acoustic
When: Saturday, May 25 - 7:00 p.m.
Where: Liquid Therapy Brewery and Grill, 14 Court St., Nashua, NH 03060
What: Alex Cohen brings his acoustic stylings to Liquid Therapy Brewery and Grill on Saturday night. Sample some craft brews, enjoy delicious food and take in the relaxing atmosphere.

Bottle Your Own Experience Sundays
When: Sunday, May 26 - 12:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.
Where: Averill House Vineyard, 21 Averill Rd., Brookline, NH 03033
What: Enjoy a guided tour of Averill House Vineyard, followed by a wine/charcuterie tasting and the opportunity to bottle your own wine. Tickets are $59 per person for this two-hour event; guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to start time.
