Winners of Ward Alderman Recounts Announced

Recounts in the Ward 3 and Ward 4 Alderman races were conducted Monday night.

Following a recount on Nov. 18 at City Hall, the outcome in Wards 3 and 4 remain the same.

In Ward 3, Paul Shea withdrew his request for a recount during the process, which means the election night results stand, with David Schoneman winning the election with 501 votes to Paul Shea's 495 votes.

Shea said, following the recount, that at the point he realized there would not be enough contested votes to change the outcome, he called off the recount and conceded to Schoneman, to save some time and energy for those doing the counting.

In Ward 4, Pam Brown was declared the winner following the recount, with 192 votes to Art Craffey's 174 votes. The election night vote was 189 for Brown to 173 for Craffey.

Before the Board of Aldermen voted to accept the results as official, Craffey publicly congratulated Brown "on a well run race."

Earlier in the evening winners were drawn to break tie races for election official posts in Wards 7 & 8.

Allison Nutting was selected as the Ward 7 Selectman and Derek Thibeault was selected as the Ward 8 Ward Clerk. Wilfred Caouette was selected as the Ward 8 Selectman.
