Woman Dies, Man Seriously Injured In Nashua Crash After Being Ejected

A vehicle left the road and hit medians, trees, and bushes before launching over a pond near Amherst Street and Somerset Parkway Monday.

NASHUA, NH — One person has died from injuries, and another has life-threatening injuries they sustained in an accident in the vicinity of Somerset Parkway and Amherst Street Monday.

Nashua Fire, police, and AMR ambulance were dispatched to Amherst Street and Somerset Parkway for a single-vehicle rollover Monday.

Nashua officers responded to the Residence Inn by Marriott at 25 Trafalgar Sq for the report of an assault involving a deadly weapon at about 1:40 a.m. As officers were responding with lights and sirens, they observed a black Nissan Altima driving at them on the wrong side of Somerset Parkway.

The vehicle crossed over the median to avoid the oncoming police vehicle and began to accelerate at an extremely high rate of speed, according to Nashua Police Sgt John Cinelli.

Officers reversed direction in an attempt to pursue the fleeing vehicle. As officers reversed their direction, the vehicle accelerated well past them and turned off the vehicle lights.

Moments later officers heard a loud crash and discovered the vehicle had crossed over Amherst St and crashed in the parking lot of 402 Amherst St.

A woman who was ejected from the car was transported to a hospital in Nashua and died from the injuries sustained. A man who also ejected was the driver of the vehicle was transported to a Nashua hospital and then transported by a medical helicopter to a Boston hospital.

The vehicle appears to have been traveling South on Somerset Parkway, crossed Amherst Street, and continued through a parking lot. In the parking lot, the vehicle struck medians, trees, and bushes and then traveled over a pond, coming to rest when it landed.

Firefighters and police searched a large area in and around the pond to ensure no other victims were involved.

Nashua Police were at the scene Monday morning, processing and documenting the scene.
