Wow, That's One Big Water Main
Franklin Street repairs force detour, but make for some cool big truck action.

Pennichuck Water Works was on the scene Oct. 2, replacing a deep water main valve on on Franklin Street near the west side of the buildiing at 8-18 Franklin Street (building west of Grace Fellowship Church). Work was scheduled to continue until 9-10 p.m. due to the difficulty of replacing this very deep, large size valve. The contractor, Park Construction, may need to continue the work on October 3, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Franklin Street will be closed to thru traffic during this time, please follow the detour routes shown the map below.
As of 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Franklin Street was open to traffic.
Bonhoeffer's Cafe and Triangle Credit Union both remained open and accessible using a detour on Thayer Court, off Main Street during construction.
Following the work noted above, the contractor will also be restoring the roadway and laying down pavement. A schedule for that work is not yet available from the contractor.
