Air Quality Issues Expected In Rockingham County, On New Hampshire’s Seacoast Tuesday
Pollution levels expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups in Exeter, Hampton, Londonderry, North Hampton, Portsmouth, Salem, Windham.

CONCORD, NH — State officials are warning of potential air quality issues on Tuesday in the southeastern area of New Hampshire due to a heat wave moving into the state Tuesday.
The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services issued the alert Monday warning of air pollution concentrations in ozone in Rockingham County, including the Seacoast that may be sensitive to children, older adults, or those with lung diseases or breathing issues. Officials warn Granite Staters to take precautions and protect themselves by limiting prolonged outdoor exertion.
“Symptoms of ozone exposure may include coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, or pain when inhaling deeply,” Jim Martin, a public information officer for the department, said. “People with asthma and other existing lung diseases may not be able to breathe as deeply or vigorously as normal and may experience symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath. The symptom severity can increase as air pollutant concentrations increase.”
