Salem Helps Fight 6-Alarm Blaze at Collapsed Paper Mill
Companies from around the region battled the raging fire.

Fire departments from around the region, including Salem, rushed to fight a massive fire Monday at the Merrimack Paper Co. in Lawrence, Mass.
As of 5:29 p.m. Monday the blaze had reached five alarms. The fire, which eventually reached six alarms, affected traffic because of smoke and the need to stretch fire hoses across roads.
Before the sun went down, smoke from the fire was visible in North Andover, according to Patch editor Bryan McGonigle.
