Could Windham Selectmen Soon Have Laptops at Meetings?

The board will consider accepting a donation of laptops during tonight's meeting.

Windham Board of Selectmen meetings could soon receive a technological upgrade thanks to a donation that has been offered by a Salem-based company.

According to a town notice, the board will consider accepting a donation of seven laptops and carry bags from Barry and Sarita Ashar/Makromed, Inc.

The Ashars are listed in town property records as Windham residents.

The laptop discussion for the Windham board started in December when board member Phil LoChiatto, now chairman, suggested potentially digitizing town meetings through the purchase of tablets or laptops.

At the time, Town Administrator Dave Sullivan said that surplus from the budget could possibly fund the laptops.

The estimated value of the equipment donation being considered is $7,000.

Selectmen will meet in the Community Development Department tonight at 7.
