Former WHS Principal Honored in DC
Both U.S. Senators representing New Hampshire congratulate Tom Murphy on Capital Hill.
Last week, U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) congratulated New Hampshire’s 2013 Secondary School Principal of the Year Tom Murphy, and Middle School Principal of the Year Kevin Richard. Murphy and Richard were named Principals of the Year in January by the New Hampshire Association of School Principals.
Murphy served as principal of Windham High School for four years and recently returned to his alma mater, Billerica Memorial High School in Massachusetts, to work as principal there. Richard’s education career spans 23 years, including service as a teacher, Career and Technical Center Director, and principal. He has served as principal at A. Crosby Kennett Middle School for nine years.
“Tom and Kevin are two incredible educators and it’s great to see their achievements recognized,” said Shaheen. “As a former teacher I know firsthand the importance of quality leadership in our schools. Principals like Tom and Kevin are having an enormous impact on the lives of their students and teachers. I commend them for all of their hard work, their accomplishments, and their commitment to education.”
