Giving Tuesday is a global initiative that brings people together to harness the potential of collective generosity. Fortunately for folks in the Windham area, there’s no shortage of organizations nearby that could greatly benefit from your support.

Here are five outstanding organizations in the Windham area. Please consider volunteering or donating to them for Giving Tuesday and beyond.


  1. Nobody’s Children — Founded in 1991, Nobody's Children is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of orphans and war-affected children by providing humanitarian aid, including medical supplies and clothing. They rely on small private donations and local fundraising events, with about 85% of funds directly supporting their programs. Learn more at nobodyschildren.org.
  2. Windham’s Helping Hands — Windham's Helping Hands is a 501(c)3 volunteer organization dedicated to providing assistance to families in need, focusing on maintaining recipient privacy and fostering independence. Their mission is to support the community by offering tools and services to help individuals and families regain self-sufficiency and lead more fulfilling lives.   3. Friends of the Library of Windham (FLOW) — FLOW supports the Nesmith Library by raising funds and encouraging greater library use. They provide financial support for library improvements, offer free or reduced-price admission to local attractions for Windham families, award academic grants and organize community events like the annual Strawberry Festival and Book Fairs.   4. Millstone Wildlife Center (MWC) — MWC is a volunteer-driven, home-based wildlife rehabilitation facility led by Executive Director Frannie Greenberg. Shepherd’s Pantry — Shepherd's Pantry serves approximately 100 families each week by providing groceries, including meat, fresh vegetables, bread, eggs, milk, pastry and personal/health items to those in need. The pantry operates as a drive-through service every Monday morning, with dedicated volunteers who shop for food, collect donations and distribute items to clients.
