Wave of Newcomers Appointed to Economic Development Committee

Four new appointments were made on Monday.

Following a lengthy non-public session on Monday, the Windham Board of Selectmen announced four new appointments to the town's Economic Development Committee.

With three terms expiring and another seat open due to the election of Al Letizio, Jr. to the Board of Selectmen, six candidates applied for the four open seats.

Current member Ralph Valentine will serve another three-year term on the committee.

He will join former Selectman Bruce Breton and Jim Coburn as those appointed for the next three years. Susan Denopoulos was appointed to a two-year term.

Coburn, a Republican, formerly served as a state representative for the town from 2004 to 2006. He was a candidate for governor in 2006, where he was defeated by incumbent Gov. John Lynch.

Denopoulos serves as the administrator at the Warde Health Center nursing home on Searles Road.

Also applying for positions were Ruth-Ellen Post, who recently stepped down from the town's Planning Board, and Michael Oldenburg.

While Letizio relinquished his position on the committee due to his role as a selectman, he will continue to serve as the board's representative to the WEDC.
