Canceled Newark Airport Flights: Travel Hub Ranks 2nd Worst In Nation This Year

Meanwhile, dozens of flights to and from Newark were delayed or canceled Tuesday.

NEWARK, NJ — Thousands of flight cancelations — including dozens of trips in and out of Newark — continue to plague travelers across the nation. But the experience has been more common this year at New Jersey's main air-travel hub than in most airports.

Newark Liberty International Airport sustained the second-highest rate of flight cancelations from January through September, according to data from the U.S. Department of Transportation. During that span, 5.8 percent of the airport's 95,869 flights got canceled.

Meanwhile, 93 flights to and from Newark have been canceled or delayed as of Tuesday morning, according to FlightAware.

Roughly 2,900 flights within, into or out of the U.S. remain canceled Tuesday, including more than 2,500 with Southwest Airlines, according to FlightAware.
