The website also released state-by-state rankings, which includes a breakdown of the best public high schools in New Jersey.

The top award went to High Technology High School in Lincroft, followed by Bergen County Academies in Hackensack.

Asbury Park High School was not included in the ranking of over 500 schools, but Neptune’s Academy of Allied Health & Science made the cut. It ranks at No. 21 in the best public high schools list.

The school was also ranked No. 12 in the state for best public high school teachers and No. 19 for best college prep public high schools.

Niche's 2022 rankings factored in academic and student life data from thousands of schools across the country. The most important factor was academics, but Niche also looked at culture and diversity, teachers, clubs and activities, sports, and more. You can read more about Niche's methodology here.
