RWJF Awards Pivotal Grant to The Family Success Institute

Funds Will Support General Operations and Family Success Movement throughout New Jersey

The Family Success Institute (FSI), a 501c3 nonprofit organization comprising parents, advocates, community members and professionals united around helping families succeed and thrive, was awarded a $115,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). Building on the grant awarded to FSI in 2023, this new grant will further support transformative strategies for family success in communities throughout the state.

“We are pleased to receive this grant from RWJF,” said Tim Carden, Executive Director, FSI. “These funds will allow our organization to grow our relationships with organizations and residents across the state as we continuously work toward ensuring voices and experiences from New Jersey are being heard.”

Funded over two years, this grant will support FSI’s local initiatives by empowering communities through outreach and education by connecting with residents, service and faith-based organizations, nonprofit and for-profit businesses, and government agencies. Additionally, the grant will foster the growth and impact of FSI’s Learning Community — a network of local leaders and advocates who meet to share information, experiences and inspiration and form positive strategies for collective impact.

“We remain dedicated to collaborating with our state leaders and elected officials to champion the vital importance of investing in opportunities for every family in New Jersey,” said Tom Blatner, Co-founder of FSI and President of the Board of Directors. “We are grateful for this grant, which empowers us to work toward our vision: of well-being as a basic right for every family, not merely a privilege for some.”

FSI’s community outreach work will culminate in a Family Success Summit, planned for Spring 2025. For more information about The Family Success Institute, visit https://familysuccessinstitute.com/.

About The Family Success Institute
The Family Success Institute (FSI) is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports a transformational shift in public funding and programs, away from a model of reacting to family distress and toward a proactive model of investing in supports and services that enhance community and family strength. With a goal of promoting family success at the state and local levels, FSI conducts policy analysis, forms coalitions and promotes public dialogue to fulfill the organization’s vision of every family and community having the resources, opportunities and support they need to successfully raise children from birth to young adulthood. The organization is joined by a “Learning Community” of local advocates, government and nonprofit leaders, and residents who share information, experiences and inspiration to formulate positive strategies for change and demonstrate how powerful, place-based community mobilization can achieve better outcomes for children and youth.
