NEW JERSEY — Another round of snow is in the forecast for Thursday night that could bring up to four inches of snow to parts of New Jersey, forecasters said.

A period of moderate to heavy snow is expected to fall across most of the region Thursday night through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Widespread snowfall accumulations of at least 2 to 4 inches are expected along and southeast of the Interstate 95 corridor. Slightly less snow of about 1 to 3 inches is expected in northwestern New Jersey.

A band with higher accumulations of 4 to 6 inches is likely with this storm, but as of Wednesday morning forecasters are uncertain where this may occur.

Most of the snow is likely to fall in a short period from midnight to 6 a.m. Friday. Along the Jersey Shore, forecasters said there’s a chance that rain could mix in with the snow early morning.

Temperatures will be in the mid 20s to low 30s as snow falls Thursday night. Gusty winds of up to 35 mph are possible along the Jersey Shore.

On Wednesday morning, the weather service issued a winter weather advisory statewide as freezing rain fell on slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges.

“Temperatures are warming across the area. There may still be lingering ice patches over untreated surfaces,” the weather service said. “Travel with caution the rest of the morning.”

Speed limits on the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway have been reduced to 45 mph due to slippery conditions as crews salt the roads, according to 511nj.org.
