Baby Great White Shark "JD" Pings Off Coast Of Barnegat Light
"JD" Was Tagged Off Montauk, Long Island Earlier This Month by Ocearch,

BARNEGAT LIGHT — He's no Mary Lee, yet. But someday the juvenile great white "pup" JD might be just as big.
The 74-pound juvenile shark was tagged on Aug.16 off Long Island. Since then he has traveled south and his transmitter pinged just off the coast of Barnegat Light at 6:51 a.m. on Wednesday, according to nj.com.
The little 5 foot, 4-inch shark was named by musician Jimmy Buffet earlier this month when he went on an expedition with Ocsearh.org.

By noon on Wednesday, JD was on the move again. His transmitter pinged again, and showed he had moved offshore off Seaside Heights.
No one knows where OCEARCH's well-known and more famous great white Mary Lee is. Her transmitter last pinged on June 17, far off the coast of Long Beach Island

Mary Lee - a 16-foot great white - was first tagged almost five years ago. This isn't the first time she's disappeared between pings, said Chris Fischer, OCEARCH's founder and chairman.
But it's also possible her transmitter may have run out steam. The silence could mean her location may remain a mystery, the article says.
More great white sharks being born off the coast of Montauk, New York, including Bruin, who pinged around 8o to 100 miles off the Wildwood Coast,— delivering a new generation to the public, Fischer said.
