Barnegat Police Officer Struck By Car During Heroin Arrest, Not Injured

The officer was not injured, but driver charged with aggravated assault, possession of heroin.

A Barnegat police officer was uninjured Thursday night when he was struck by a car driven by a man later arrested on numerous heroin charges, according to the police department's Facebook page.

The Barnegat Police Narcotics Unit was conducting an investigation at the 7-11 parking lot, when Timothy Milton of Barnegat backed up his car and struck Detective Nowak, who was out of his car and also hit Nowak's vehicle, according to the post.

Officers then drew their weapons and ordered the occupants of Milton's vehicle out of the car. No one had any firearms other than the officers. Nowak was not injured, police said.

Milton was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin with intent to distribute in a school zone, eluding, aggravated assault, and tampering with evidence, the post states.

Kyle Frate was charged with possession of heroin and wandering/loitering to obtain CDS.
