BARNEGAT, NJ - Dozens of care packages were collected by Barnegat Schools as part of an annual initiative to bring holiday joy to U.S. service members overseas.
The latest “Christmas In Camouflage” effort, spearheaded by a Barnegat High School sophomore Daniel Hoffman, saw around 40 care packages donated to Operation Yellow Ribbon, a New Jersey nonprofit that organizes supplies and goodies donations to those serving in the Middle East.
This year’s donations from Barnegat Schools included a hefty supply of hot cocoa and snacks, as well as shower and grooming supplies, according to photos posted by Hoffman.

The program started in 2016 under the direction of Cecil S. Collins School teacher Michelle Lombardi, according to TAPinto Stafford/LBI. Hoffman was the first student to lead the effort.
“Christmas in Camouflage was a huge success thanks to the tireless effort of Daniel Hoffman,” Barnegat Schools Superintendent Dr. Brian Latwis said in a statement. “Donations were collected by Operation Yellow Ribbon this morning to be sent overseas to our U.S. troops this holiday!”
