Boat Fire In Manahawkin Bay Remains Under Investigation

A boat fire that closed The Boatyard and Marina early Saturday night was still under investigation on Monday, New Jersey State Police said.

STAFFORD, NJ — A boat that caught fire in Manahawkin Bay over the weekend was still under investigation on Monday, New Jersey State Police said.

Stafford police responded to The Boatyard and Marina on Saturday just after 4 p.m. for a report of a boat that was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire caused heavy damage to part of the bulkhead and picnic tables, police said. No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation by the New Jersey State Police Marine Bureau. No updates were available on Monday, police said.

The restaurant closed early on Saturday night and reopened the following day at noon. The owners of The Boatyard and Marina posted a thank you message on Facebook to responding agencies:

“Thank you Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Co., Stafford Township Police Department, Stafford EMS, New Jersey Marine Police and all first responders. We are happy that everyone is safe and appreciate the cooperation of our guests,” the restaurant said.
