Boater Killed After Being Knocked Overboard In Barnegat Bay: Police

The boat's two occupants were knocked overboard when their vessel struck a large wake in Barnegat Bay, state police said.

LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ — A boater was killed Sunday after he and another person were thrown overboard from their vessel in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey State Police said.

It was shortly before 10 a.m. when the 27-foot Robalo vessel struck a large wake in the bay in Little Egg Harbor, flinging the boat's two occupants overboard, Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron told Patch.

The boat continued to circle without the occupants on board, striking one of them, Lebron said. The strike killed Princeton resident Karl Chen, 56, Lebron said.

The other occupant sustained minor injuries, Lebron said.
