Cardboard Regatta To Set Sail In Manahawkin Lake Park
It's time to break out the cardboard and scissors: Stafford Recreation's Cardboard Boat Regatta returns Aug. 3.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — It's time to break out the cardboard and scissors: Stafford Recreation’s Cardboard Boat Regatta returns Aug. 3.
Using only cardboard, duct tape and their creativity, families must craft a vessel that can withstand a voyage on Manahawkin Lake.
Though painting boats is prohibited, permanent markers and patterned duct tape can be used for decorating. Boats must be propelled by participants’ arms, oars or paddles during the race.

All boats will be inspected an hour before the race which sets sail at 5 p.m. Participants under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult and wear a life jacket.
Prizes will be awarded for the best overall, divisional winner, most creative, best spirit and best sink. Costumes are also encouraged, but not required.

The boat race will be followed by the Stafford Township Police Department's "National Night Out" event.
