Coast Guard Airlifts Man With Chest Pains Off Atlantic City Coast

Fishing boat asked for a medical evaluation for 51-year-old man, report says

ATLANTIC CITY - The Coast Guard airlifted a crew member with chest pains off a fishing boat 90 miles off the coast of Atlantic City shortly after noon on Thursday.

The agency was notified that a 51-year-old crew member on the 73-foot fishing board Connor & Michael was
having chest pains. Those on board requested a medical evacuation, according to a Coast Guard news release.

“The crew of this fishing boat did the right thing by reaching out to us when a medical emergency began,” said Lt. James Fennessey, the helicopter pilot on the case. “Emergencies in the maritime environment can be complex and the quicker we are alerted, the faster we can respond.”

An MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City responded, took the man on board and flew him to Air Station Atlantic City, where he was transferred to emergency medical services, the release states.

It was the second ocean emergency the Coast Guard has responded to today. Crews are still searching for the missing 40-foot fishing boat Queen Anne's Revenge, which sent out a signal for help shortly after midnight.
