Barnegat Pair Charged With Xanax, Crack Possession On New Year’s Eve
Two Barnegat residents were arrested New Year's Eve following a traffic stop in Brick Township, police said.
BRICK, NJ — Two Barnegat residents are facing drug charges after police found crack cocaine, methadone and Xanax after they pulled over an aggressive driver on New Year's Eve, Brick police said.
Joseph Catanzaro, 25, and Adrianna Buttacavoli, 19, were arrested shortly after noon near the intersection of Route 70 and Shorrock Street, Sgt. Jim Kelly said.
Detectives from the Brick Township Police Street Crimes Unit saw an aggressive driver on Beaverson Boulevard who was cutting off other drivers. When police pulled the vehicle over near the Route 70 intersection, they found Buttacavoli, the driver, with Xanax pills and paraphernalia, Kelly said.

They also found Catanzaro in possession of unspecified amounts of crack cocaine, methadone and drug paraphernalia, he said.
Catanzaro gave the detectives false information about his identity, Kelly said; he was charged with hindering apprehension in addition to possession of crack, methadone, and paraphernalia, and taken to the Ocean County Jail.

Buttacavoli was charged with possession of Xanax, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and careless driving, Kelly said, and she was released on a summons.
