Father-Son Shoplifting Duo Charged In Manahawkin: Police

The two Long Island men were caught stealing about $1,600 worth of merchandise from the Manahawkin Lowe's, Stafford police said.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A father and son duo from Long Island who were working together to shoplift from Lowe's Home Improvement on Route 72 were caught by Stafford police, authorities said in a news release.

It was shortly after 8 p.m. on Feb. 4 when Kenneth Nelson, 39, of Rockville, NY, attempted to flee from officers on foot after stealing about $1,674 of merchandise from Lowe's, police said. He was quickly apprehended, police said.

He was charged with shoplifting and taken to Ocean County Jail with a criminal complaint warrant to appear in Ocean County Superior Court.

Kenneth Nelson Sr., 68, also from Rockville, NY, was operating the getaway vehicle outside of the store, police said. He also was charged with shoplifting at police headquarters and issued a criminal complaint summons to appear in Ocean County Superior Court, police said.
