Homeland Security Forum For Area Businesses Coming Up On June 7 In Southern Ocean County

Learn what to do this summer to prepare for, recognize and respond to security threats.


SHIP BOTTOM, NJ. – State and federal Homeland Security officials will host a free workshop on June 7 on how to deal with security threats over the upcoming busy summer season.

The forum is open to area businesses, their employees and event preparers and will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 7 at the Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Company at 2006 Central Avenue in Ship Bottom.

“This is the first time a discussion of this caliber has been brought to our region” said Lori Pepenella, CEO of the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce. “We are hoping everyone takes advantage to benefit from having these experts available to us.”

Representatives from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and local law enforcement officials will also be on hand to participate in the forum, which will focus on how to prepare for, mitigate and respond to security threats.

The agenda includes opening remarks, a threat briefing, protective security measures, resource sharing, and a facilitated discussion. The program will provide the opportunity for our business community to collaborate with local, county, state and federal law enforcement as well as homeland security organizations.
