'Iconic' LBI Bar Listed For Sale At $3.9M

SHIP BOTTOM, NJ — An iconic piece of Long Beach Island history is up for sale.

Joe Pop's Shore Bar & Restaurant is listed for sale for $3.9 million. The owners of the landmark music venue shared their reasoning behind selling in a social media post to "prevent or eliminate any misconceptions or misinformation."

The owners said that when they had invested in Joe Pop's four years ago, they had planned to "not be active participants." However, things changed, and they had to step in and run the business themselves.

"We love Joe Pops and our staff, and still do," they wrote. "You all know we have poured our heart and soul into this business and into supporting the community we have come to know and love."

At this time, though, another partner plans to step away from the business, and thus, the owners decided to as well.

Joe Pop's will stay open through the spring and summer under current owners and management, as the business has not been sold nor have there been any offers.

The bar has been around in some form since the 1930s. Many musicians have played here over the years, from beloved locals like The Nerds to legends like Bruce Springsteen.

The listing description describes Joe Pop's as "iconic."

"This property is the cornerstone of Long Beach Island memories for generations," it reads.
