Jake Is An 'Unsung Hero': Manahawkin Graduation Shoutout

Jake's mom said he should be recognized for his determination and perseverance. Here's why he's getting a shoutout:

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Graduation is a major milestone and deserves to be celebrated! That's why Patch and T-Mobile have teamed up to recognize our community's outstanding 2024 graduates.

He is my son.

Tell us why they deserve to be nominated!

Jake should be recognized for his determination and perseverance in not only completing his Culinary Arts program at Brick OCVTS but also taking courses at OCC simultaneously. He is a hard working driven individual who meets challenges head on. He is a SkillsUSA Gold Medalist (Action Skills-2023) and a SkillsUSA Silver Medalist (Action Skills-2024). He is being recognized this May as an "Unsung Hero" through Ocean County Prosecutors Office and nominated by staff at OCVTS. Jake also volunteers at JBJ Soul Kitchen in Toms River and enjoys giving his time and utilizing skills his has learned. He is a special young man.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about your graduating student nominee?

Jake found something he really enjoys and that is cooking. He is expected to continue his learning next fall at Atlantic Cape Community College culinary program. Jake also loves participating and performing in Improv shows. He loved every minute of the last three shows he was part of at OCC's Improv club.
